Recurse

Privacy

Last updated October 18, 2026

Recurse teaches coding with short daily lessons. We keep only what we need to run the lessons, save your progress, and remind you if you ask. We don't sell your data, and we don't show ads.

What we keep

  • Your account. If you sign in with GitHub, Google or an email link: your name, email address and profile picture. As a guest, no name or email at all.
  • Your progress. Lessons you finish, your answers, XP, streak, streak freezes, and which skills are due for review.
  • Your settings. Daily goal, time zone (to know when your day starts), whether reminders are on and at what time, and your onboarding answers.
  • Push reminders. If you turn them on, the address your browser gives us for sending notifications.
  • Problem reports. What you send with "Report a problem".

Cookies

One cookie keeps you signed in (as a guest too). It is needed for the site to work. Sound and a few display choices are stored in your browser only. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Who helps us run Recurse

  • Vercel hosts the site and counts page views without cookies.
  • Neon stores the database.
  • Resend sends sign-in links.
  • GitHub and Google handle sign-in when you choose them.
  • Your browser's push service (Google, Apple or Mozilla) delivers push reminders.

How long we keep it

As long as you have an account. A guest account with no activity for 30 days is deleted, with its progress.

Your choices

  • Turn reminders on or off any time in Settings.
  • Download all your data in Settings.
  • Delete your account in Settings. Your data is deleted with it; problem reports you sent stay, without the link to you.
